My review for Directory Pro plugin
The plugin was released on August 16, 2015. Over 1000 copies have been sold. But, so far the plugin has responsiveness issues and conflicts with WordPress templates. If you read the comments on the sales page, then most users ask questions about errors on the site that appear after installing the plugin.
One of my clients wanted to install and configure this plugin for himself. Purpose: to create a directory of companies.
Then I share my experience of setting up this plugin and my subjective conclusions. I would be grateful if you share your experience of setting up the plugin in the comments.
WordPress templates
Not every WordPress theme will have the Directory PRO plugin work. And if it works, then you can’t do without editing CSS styles. You will have to edit the styles both in the theme and in the plugin.
For example, on the Astra theme, the list of ads did not load at all on the archive page. I wrote about this to the author, he said that jQuery is not connected in Astra. With the default Twenty Twenty theme, the plugin also did not want to work.
For the plugin, you still need to select a suitable wordpress theme that will not conflict with the plugin.
Video block
The client has the Sahifa theme on the site and he wanted to install this plugin on the site. It turned out that the video block does not work in the ads themselves. I wrote about this to the developer, and he answered simply: then do not use this block. Is this a normal response?
Design floats on the site
The ad archive page influences the theme styles – the plugin styles get priority and the elements on the site start to move. Reason: The author uses identifiers and classes as in the theme (p, button, input, etc.).
Was it really hard to make them unique so that the names did not overlap with the theme classes? I found the following solution for myself: find all conflicting classes in the topic and set the !important rule for them. Thus, I have resolved the conflict between theme and plugin CSS classes and IDs.
Tariff adaptability
The price table (tariffs) does not support adaptability at all, although the author claims full support for adaptability. Wrote to the author about it. He replied: use a different style of the price table.
There are 7 of them, but which one to use if they are not all adaptive? One can imagine that pricing tables are not responsive only on my client’s site, but what about the fact that it’s not responsive on the demo site either?!
Plugin conflicts
Some plugins had to be abandoned altogether in order for the Directory PRO plugin to work properly. But, this is often found if the site is overloaded with various plugins. After all, it’s not the business to keep 44 plugins active on the site. The likelihood of conflicts in this case increases significantly.
Email notifications
Email notifications are only sent to the user when they have registered. The admin does not receive emails when a new user registers or a new company is added. This is a minus. What is the author of the plugin guided by?
Directory Pro Mobile version
The mobile version of the ad listing page and the single ad page work well and look great. “Call”, “Write” and some blocks are displayed as buttons at the top and bottom of the page, which is very convenient.

In principle, the plugin has potential and perspective. It is interesting in terms of functionality. But, the author is in no hurry to bring it to a normal working state.
For all my comments, the author of the plugin makes stupid replies: “do not use”, “select a different style”, or simply is silent. You can count on help in solving problems only on yourself. Although, he nevertheless answered some of my questions and even promised to add notifications to the admin in the new version of the plugin. But, is it really necessary to write about such functions and beg them to do it?
